After we come back inside after the successful Mushroom Hunting we now take on the Kingdom of Plants (so we can head back outside and complete this years Herbarium).
This weeks questions:
What types of plants are there?
How has each type adapted for survival?
How are plants adapted to life on land?
The contract for this week takes you outside as well. One has you starting your own herbarium by collecting samples, drawings, or photos of plants around your home. The other choice has you looking for spore producing plants around your yard to create a terrarium. Have fun!
Can you just draw a terrarium/make a poster of a terrarium?

ReplyDeleteThere are vascular plants, non-vascular plants,gymnosperms, and angiosperms. Vascular plants have a vascular systems to move water more quickly and non-vascular plants transport water cell by cell, this causes them not to get as large as vascular plants. Gymnosperms reproduce with seeds and angiosperms reproduce with spores. They adapted by reproducing with seeds that have protective outer shells that hold in all the nutrients they need so they don't need water. Their roots take in water from the ground and move it either cell by cell or through their vascular systems around the plants.

ReplyDeleteThere are vascular & non-vascular plants. The vascular ones grow bigger than non vascular plants because they have a vascular system to transport nutrients.

ReplyDeleteThere are four different types of plants. They are vascular, nonvascular, gymnosperms,and angiosperms.
How has each type adapted for survival?
Well, Vascular plants have tube-like structures that transport water from the roots to the stem to the leaves.
Nonvascular plants move water to plant to plant bytransporting it from one cell to another cell.
Gymnosperms may reproduce with seeds. One example of a seed is a Sunflower seed. They spread by the wind and grow into other Sunflowers.
Angiosperms may reproduce with spores. For example, a flowering plant is an angiosperm.
The roots of the plants soak up water and tranport them to other plants. The seeds help them adapt and reproduce.
There are plants that have vascular systems and those that don't...
