Grade 8 Week 21: Chemical Reactions and the Law of Conservation of Mass

What is a chemical reaction?
What types of reactions are there?
How are they different?
C2H6 + O2 à CO2 + H2O
Balance this equation.
Why must it be balanced?

Contract 21 has you inventing a lab that demonstrates a chemical reaction or teach the class how to balance chemical reaction equations.

One chemical reaction is rust that is a color change. And is it still a color change if it rusts away?

Chemical reactions are when compounds come together to form a new one.

You would balance the equation by C2H6+3.5O2---> 2CO2+3H2O

A chemical reaction is the process by which chemical changes occur. In a reaction, atoms are rearranged, and chemical bonds are broken and formed.

A chemical reaction is when you combine elements to make a product. There are two different types of chemical reactions, they are exothermic, and endothermic. You know when it's an exothermic reaction, because if it is one, it will emit heat or light.

so will the chemical reation cause the atom bomb? :(

chemicalreactions are when different compounds come together and the types are synthesis, decomposition, and combustion.

A chemical reaction is when two chemicals are heated up or mixed togeather to make something new.
There are three types, combustion, decompotion, and synthis

exothermic and endothermic reactions are chemical reactions. Exothermic gives off energy, and endothermic absorbs it.

A chemical reaction is when a compound's bonds are broken and re-formed.
