1.1: The Water Cycle

We are done with Unit A! Does that mean we forget all we have learned? In our first unit we looked at how our rocky planet is moving, what that movement means, and how we affect this chunck of space rock that we are living on. In our new unit we will learn about our how our watery planet is moving, what that movement means, and how we affect this water world we are living on. Sound familiar. All of those concepts we scribbled on to the paper of our unit A exam come back to haunt us again. It's almost like these concepts are important and apply to many things...

This week we look at how water moves throughout Earth and its atmosphere.

Where do you see water?
How does water move throughout Earth's land, ocean, and atmosphere?
What causes this movement?
How are our daily lives affected by how water moves?

With this new unit we are going even more into the technology we have, so a few reminders.

1. Contracts can now be done online in lieu of class presentations on our class wiki. See me if you would like to take advantage of this starting with Science Contract for Week 13
2. Everyone is expected to post their thoughts on the weekly questions once per chapter(every two weeks).
3. There are now three participating groups signed up for the We Can Change the World Challenge. Get a group, sign up, and make a difference for an extra contract grade before March 9th.

Here are your Contract 13 Pics!

1. All around me. The mullet river is right acrost the way from the school and Lake Michigan is only a few miles away.
2. It moves through the water cycle. The water cycle consists of evaporaition, condensation, preciptation.
3. Convection currents.
4. They are effected because if the water didn't move and the water cycle didn't occure we wouldnt have any water to survive. All living organisms need water to survive there for there wouldnt be any living organisms on this earth. Also we use water for transportation, elictricity, and farming. ...Mr.Hoopman you have somthing im your beard by the way...

1.Water is all around in my home and see it everyday in the shower and sink and of course the toilet. Lake michigan and the "Mighty" Mullet River are two very close bodies of water.
2 Water is moved through the water cycle. Sun (hewat) creates evaporation and the water on the surface of Earth turns into water vapor and moves higher in the the atmosphere. Once the vapor passes the dew point the water molecules start to form clouds. That process is called condensation. The clouds then become to heavy for the wind to hold them up and then the precipitation part starts. Rain, snow hail and all that other good stuff are all examples of presipitation.
3.Convection currents and heat from the Sun causes this movement.
4.Obviously you need water to drink. Without rivers, lakes, and oceans transportation would be more difficult. Also we get electricity from Hydroelectric plants.
-Plumbing for homes
-Farming and Irrigation
-Rain which helps grow plants
-Tides.
Don't forget..When your boat doesn't move anymore, CHUCK THE HORSES OFF! Peace man

Where do you see water?
You see water in rivers, streams, lakes, oceans, wells, and in soil.

How does water move throughout Earth's land, ocean, and atmosphere?
land: water moves through land by seeping into the soil and travling by moving with the soil and they travel if there are pipes under ground.
ocean: water moves in the oceans with the tides that are caused by the movement of the moon. There are also currents in the water that prevent the water from freezing. These currents are caused by the law of gravity.
Atmosphere: water moved in the atmosphere by the water cycle. What happens in the water cycle is there is a puddle of water on the ground then it evaporates and gets cooler when in reaches the dew point then condenses. when int condenses in the clouds it will usally come down as rain. It may come down in sleet, hail, snow, or mist.
What causes this movement?
The water cyle, gravity, and the moon.
How are our daily lives affected by water?
If we didnt have water we wouldnt be able to transport goods over seas or have anything to drink.

((1. i see water all around me;
1.)sink
2.)toilet
3.)bathtub/shower
^i dont take baths:P
4.)the mullet
5.)the little stream down the road from me.

((2. All this water moves through the water cycle somehow.

the water cycle consists of
*evaporation
*condensation
*percipitation
*transpiration
*collection
*inflitration
*evapotranspiration
*sublimation
*accumulation
^i need only 9 more(:
i beet you dylan-->haha;

((3.it moves by the wind/convection currents.

((4.they are affect becuase it we didnt have the water cycle, we wouldnt have rain, we wouldnt have snow, we probably wouldnt have water either. Water is very important;; we need it for many things. example: brushing our teeth;taking a shower; going potty(: stuff like that.

imma gunna bownce outta heree.

1) water is all around us. lake michigan, the mullet river & tiny rivers here and there.

2) it moves through the water cycle, which includes evaporation, condensation, & precipitation.

3) im thinking convection currents. the moon also affects high tides and low tides.

4) theres obvious reasons, like to drink & stuff. and dont forget the 3 important reasons for water--- showering, the washer, & drinking. (haha.) we all need water to survive. without it, we'd die:]

your the best, mr.hoopdog.

sincerly,

1.We see water in lakes and rivers.
2.Water moves through earth by the water cycle. Evaporation, condensation, and precipitation is the water cycle.
3. Heat from the sum evaporates the water into the air. Condensation is where the water forms into clouds. Precipitation is when it rains.
4. You need water to drink, shower, and wash things. You need water to survive.

water moves from the water cycle evaportation condensation and precipitation.

3)What causes this movement?

convection currents cause this movement.

4)How are our daily lives affected by how water moves?

If we didnt have the water cycle we wouldn't have enough water to survive. and everyone needs water to survive.

Water is everywhere, in all 3 forms-liquid, gas, solids- from the mullet river to the water from the faucet.

Wind, the water cycle, rivers, and oceans.

Gravitational pull.

Water affects everything, nothing can survive without it, so our lives themselves require water.

1. Water is everywhere around me. Almost every morning when i walk to school there is snow falling, or pilled up on the sides of the street, which is frozen water falling as precipitation. And at home when I turn the sink on.

2.Water moves through the water cycle and sometime shuman intervention. Water in oceans, rivers, and lakes are being evaporated, then falling again as precipitation.

3.The sun and convection currents.

4. If water didnt move, earths land would be dry and have almost no vegitation. Water is used for electricity and some transportrtion.

You see water at the ocean. it moves by river and streams and also the water cycle. By the water cycle.

I see water everywhere. It is in my house and outside.
The water moves throught the Earth's atmosphere, and land through the water cycle.
Convetion currents cause this. We are effected by this because we need water to suvive. We could use it for electricity, transportation, and farming. So there you go. I will se you in science class.

#1- It is everywhere, It's in ponds, lakes, oceans, EVERYWHERE.

#2- It uses the cycles EVAPORATION, CONDENSATION, PRECIPITATION

#3- Currents.

#4- Because everything needs water to live, well everything living of course. Heating, Plumbing and More. And Also We Get To SWIM in In.

Adiooz Mr. Hoopdog.

Water is everyone almost. Rivers, lakes, oceans, streams, marshes, its bascically everywhere. except maybe hot arizona:P. but yeah.
water moves through the water cycle, consisting of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. it moves my convection currents, and its effected because if the water cycle didnt work, we wouldnt have any water, and we'd all be dead. so yeah.
peace out hoopdog.
p.s. i never got my bike for christmas:(

1.water is all over the place in the rivers and in lake michigan.
2.the way water moves is through curents in the water evaporation, condensation, and percipitaion.
3. convection currents and the sun allow the water vapor to get to the clouds which means movement.
4.if water doesnt move we can do much with our electricity.

1. I see water in oceans, lakes, streams, rivers, and many other places including the shower and my sink.
2. It moves because of the water cycle and evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.
3. Weather, Convection Currents, Wind, and other things.
4. If water didn't move, we wouldn't have anything to drink. We would also smell really bad because we couldn't take showers. Shipping food would be harder. We couldn't grow any crops because there wouldn't be any rain.

1. water is everywhere, so everywhere. the mullet river is right down the hill from my house so i see everyday on my way to school- not to mention that it is also right next to riverview.

2. water moves by the water cycle
*evaporation, condensaton, and precipitaion are the 3 main parts of it
*there is also transition - water from plants(this part is in my contract)

3. the sun does!- i can't believe that anyone else got that part- the sun has to heat up the water to cause evaporation and condensation and precipitation both depend on hot and cold temperatures-duh-

4. my life depends on water. without it i wouldn't be able to live because i think its 80% of your body is water(i think- don't quote me on that)

By the way..... science is the BEST subject :)

1. I see water all the time, like Lake Michigan, and in the Mullet River.
2.Water is moved throughout the water cycle. The water cycle is where the water evaporates from the sun's heat. then the water goes in the clouds, then the water droplets get heavy enough to fall. and it goes in a big cycle.
3.convection currents.
4.we use water to drink, and every living organism needs water. We also use water to transporte goods on water.
