Eighth Grade Week 10

This week we finish our look at natural resources. Our goal was to look at some of the issues we face concerning our use of natural resources and to find some solutions.

Each class split into groups to look at a specific issue and research or create some solutions to that problem. Notebook projects

So, what are the issues we face because of our dependence on natural resources? What are we doing or what can we do to resolve those problems?

This week's contract 12 looks at our current use of resources and alternatives.

if we don't reduce our dependence on fossil fuels what would happen when we finnaly run out of them and we were still dependent on them? Global catastrophy?

If we all put a solar panels on our houses, we could power the world without burning any fuels, so why can't lazy rich people just live with the fact that "their world" won't go exactly as they planned?

im so mad i dont understand this at ALL

AC current (alternating currents)
flows back and forth WHY?

DC current (direct current)
flows in one direction WHY?

and why is AC current stronger and travels longer and is more dangerous than DC currents?

Some of the things we've come up with are biomass energy,( wood+dead plant matter,) geothermal energy,(steam,) hydroelectric energy,( water,) and many more. But I also wonder what will happen in the future; will our ancestors live to see their 21st birthday??? We have to become more involved, put up signs around Plymouth explaining to them the importance of recycling, fixing leaky appliances, and keeping their car's oil in tact.

Yea, if we run out of fossil fuels, how would we get the power to create a different source of energy? would we just live like cavemen?

I think that people should worry more about what to do when our fossil fules run out. I don't think that people are taking it seriously right now. People are probably thinking that we have enough for now, so why worry? But people aren't realizing that we will eventually run out, and we need a replacment engery provider that won't cost too much and make everyone angry. But how? Is there really something out there that would work to accomplish everything that this country and world needs? What would happen if we ran out before we came up with a replacment energy source? Would we all just huddle in a corner in the dark til someone figured it out? When will we run out approximately?
