Eighth Grade Week 9

This week we begin our look at natural resources. We will focus on our own use of these resources.

How do we use natural resources? at home? at school? What is the good and the bad of this use?

This weeks contract looks at how we use resources in our home? How is your home heated? How do you conserve resources in your home? How do you recycle in your house?

This weeks contract is a combination of contracts 10 and 11.

We use natural resources like coal, because we want electricity and heat so we don't freeze to death in the winter, but to every good side, there is a bad effect that occurs. When we use coal, the harmful gases enter the atmosphere contributing to global warming and not enough clean O2 in the air to breathe.

Towards helping the planet, there is conserving and recycling. The two parts to conserving are reducing and reusing. The one part to recycling is obviously recycling!

Actullly there are some dudes who are trying to make a device tat captures the co2 from coal/natural gas power plants and use it to turn it back into a fuel that can be burnd again.

How do people use animal wast to make energy.

here were also some devices designed to producepower when put under physical stress so the idea would be to put these under a road so people driving power a city/country depending on how much road these are put under.

How do wrappers get recycled?

Mike, well then I applaud them, just like I applaud anyone who cares at all about our vast universe and is trying immensely to help the population understand the need to recycle and conserve. Smart cars, hybrid cars, cars that run on corn oil are all brilliant solutions. When I reach adulthood, I am getting myself a nice mint green hybrid! (Smart cars are to small for my long legs!!)

if you are willing and able to pay the cost that comes with "going ALL green" thats your choice. I don't think that my first car will be as costly as a hybrid.

Why do you think we have to convert everything to electrical energy before we use it?

Why are people starting to care so much about the envoirnment now, when it was much worse a couple years ago....

Do you think that having celeberties influencing the envoinmental thing is a good thing or a bad thing...

What is the most efficient energy source?

Jack said...

Ways that people dont go green is becasue some of these are costly like wind energy. Most companies would rather use fossil fuels as an energy source rather than harness wind becasue it is cheaper

Are we ever going to run out of our natural resources? If so how many years will it take?
